SUB – URBAN RURAL MEGA PRIMARY SCHOOL
• Promoting equity, qualitative education and transformational development
In
the olden days, elders have to trek several miles to attend schools
their communities, likewise, students of Isokan community, along Irese
road in Akure local government had to trek several miles to attend good
schools, which can afford them access to qualitative education. Even the
children of the rich were not spared and were very much discriminated
from the children of the poor, as they attend board schools and academic
institutions far away which their parents believe could offer world
class standardized education for their children. Thus there exist wide
gap between the rich and the poor, unequal access to education, lack of
needed parental care, among others.
Research into the community
reveals that Isokan community for decades houses no government owned
school, even the few privately owned ones are housed in dilapidated
structure, with inadequate qualified teachers; therefore the community
has on no account received the favour of the previous administration in
terms educational development for the benefit of students and pupils in
the area.
However, the present administration in its quest to give
access to equal and quality education to children of both the rich and
the poor, transformation of educational facilities and infrastructures,
has built about 50 mega schools, among which is a Sub- Urban Rural Mega
Primary School in Famese - Isokan Community, Irese road, Akure.
This
area comprises 13 various rural – urban communities within Irese town
and it has about 6 km radius with loving people who are glad enough to
keep their father’s heritage and promise of providing land for the
government to assist in building of a community school, not knowing it
will not be commonplace school but a sub – urban mega primary school,
with credit to the Mimiko’s administration.
Just as the President has
put in place 125 Almajiri schools within four years in the northern
part of the country in order to keep the kids out of the streets, the
present administration has put in place a beautiful structure which
aligns with the present day technological development, infrastructures
and teaching aids that cushion learning and understanding to the benefit
of the pupils and students; thereby bridging the gap between the rich
and the poor. Children of the rich and the poor now have access to the
same enhanced educational infrastructures, materials and qualitative
teaching, no wonder at Isokan Sub – Urban Mega Primary School, it is a
pupil per computer.
The just commissioned Sub – Urban Mega Primary
School is a promised fulfilled for the people of the state, because Mr.
Governor had earlier promised that his administration will continue to
transform Ondo State by restructuring, restoring and transforming the
state with 21st century infrastructures that are to the best interest of
the people; this must have prompted the people of Isokan community to
welcome the Governor warmly during the commissioning of the Sub – Urban
Mega Primary School in the area.
The peoples’ Governor also affirmed
that Isokan Community Mega primary school is the first sub – urban mega
school built and commissioned by his administration and it was premised
upon global re – engineering of educational programme in Ondo state.
At
Isokan sub – urban mega school, enough sophisticated materials that
aligns with infrastructural development of the information and computer
technological age were also put in place, making it conform with the
21st century trend. Consequently, the mega primary school ideology has
helped to make accessible to every category of children in Ondo state –
quality education, inclusive growth, equity and progressivism; therefore
making it an initiative of social integration for the growth of young
ones.
Mimiko as well promised to continue building mega primary
school and transforming the state educational sector so that all
children in the state are given equal right to quality educational in
order to enable them compete favourably with their counterparts within
and outside the country.
The government being a very prudent
government in addition put in place the sub urban rural mega primary
school to ensure minimal principle, that is minimum cost viz a viz
maximum benefit, therefore saving the government about 50% cost of
implementation and every required facilities were there – in.
Another
stakeholder in the educational sector and the Ondo State Commissioner
for Education, Arc. Jide Adejuyigbe, in his own view said the government
is committed to provide quality education for the people and therefore
advised other communities to emulate Isokan community for its readiness
to give out plots of lands for siting the school.
To an astute
academic and a septuagenarian, who was a Guest of Honour during the
commissioning of the edifice, Prof. Dupe Olatunbosun, unlike previous
administrations in Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun mimiko has performed
tremendously remarkable in all ways. He insisted Ondo state has not seen
the uncommon transformation witnessed in the Mimiko’s administration
and thus urged the people to support transformational government.
The
Professor of Agriculture Economics said the landmark achievement is an
evident of Mimiko’s prudent administration in resources management,
restructuring and transformation of all aspects of the state economy.
In
the same vien, the communities were not left out in lauding the efforts
of the government, one of the Community leaders, Mr. Babatunde Fatoki,
appreciated the government for coming to their rescue by putting in
place a world class primary school in their community, because it will
go a long way to alleviate the plight of parents sending kids to school
so as to acquire quality education.
It can therefore be concluded
that the newly commissioned of Sub – Urban Mega Primary School, Isokan
by Governor Olusegun Mimiko, is an evident of restoration of Hope and
fulfilled future in an average Ondo child.
Ayokunle Ikusemiju,
For Caring Heart.
